I’ve heard a lot of people say that they’ve stopped going to the movies. Some because they think movies suck these days but most because it’s too expensive. I totally agree. When a popcorn, drink, and a box of candy cost more than your ticket, we have problems. When buying that for more than one person costs more than dinner at Applebees, we have major problems. I don’t mind the ticket prices half as much as the cost of concessions. I find it hard to believe that they need to inflate the price of popcorn to 6 bucks for a bucket to stay afloat.
So far this year, I’ve seen 12 movies. I absolutely love going to the movies. To cut down on costs, I try to eat before, smuggle in my own food (yeah, ghetto but I really don’t care), and go to the earliest movie possible which is also usually the cheapest. Unless it’s in 3D. Then you still pay 11 bucks. Thanks for teaching me that, Shrek in 3D. The most expensive movie I’ve seen this year was Alice In Wonderland in IMAX 3D which was 16 bucks. Nic and Kel took me to see that for my birthday. 2 of those movies I didn’t have to pay for; one because I earned a free movie being a member of the theaters movie club and the other because the theater had problems with the projector the first time I tried to see it so I got a refund and a free ticket. One movie, Date Night, I went to see with Ant when he was here because we both love the movies so we went to one the last night he was in California.
I’d have to say that Alice, Death at a Funeral, Date Night, and Sex and the City 2 have been my favorites I’ve seen this year. I’m highly looking forward to Eclipse, Toy Story 3, and Part 1 of the last Harry Potter movie.
Anything you’re looking forward to that you just can’t wait to see on DVD?

I love going to the movies. I can’t wait for Toy Story 3 and Harry Potter. But for the rest? It’s SO pricey that now I have to evaluate what movie is worth a big screen viewing. We were all set to take the girls to see Shrek 4 a couple weeks ago. You know, some fun family time, until we priced the tickets. $36 for a family of 4, 2 and 2, to go to the movies with no snacks. At that rate, we decided to pass and just buy the Blu Ray when it comes out later this year because it will cost less! It’s kind of sad that the capitalism of the movie industry has priced itself out by making it cheaper to stay home. Maybe this is why they are doing so many remakes and sequels. No one is paying writers for original ideas because they only get my $25 one time if at all.

I LOVE going to the moving picture show. I do matinees because that makes it just under $30 if I take The Man and The Brat. But I get mad when I think a movie is gonna be good and it isn’t. I feel like I pay too much to see horrible movies. Yes, I’m *that* girl. (I am also that girl that will sneak food in to the theater, so you’re in good company)
I’m also dying to see Get Him to the Greek. (I dunno, looks funny as hell –and word on the street is, that it is).

I LOVE going to movies. I’ve lost count at how many I’ve been to this year, it’s a lot. I always try to wait for the weekend to see a show. LOVE AMC’s Early Bird pricing…any movie before 12 p.m. on Friday/Saturday/Sunday is $5. I love me some movie theater popcorn, and have to have it when I go.
I see quite a few free movies…a local theater does free screenings every now and again. If you’re on their email list you usually get an invite. I try to catch those always, you can’t go wrong with a FREE movie.
I’m really looking forward to Eclipse (I’ll be at the midnight showing!!), Toy Story 3, Eat Pray Love and I’m sure there are more.

Well, you know how I feel about movies. Love them. I still think it’s hilarious that we all went to the movies when we were in Vegas on vacation!
But you liked Death at a Funeral? Really? Did you see the original, British version? I have to think that one was much better.

Movie smuggler tip: The giant candy bins where you fill a bag per pound. So much variety. plus the bag can go in your purse.

I’m with you on the Harry Potter and Eclipse. Very excited!
I used to go to the movies at LEAST twice a week. I’ve kind of fallen out of that habit, though. I rarely go anymore.
